What is Leonardo da Vinci – 500 Years of Genius?

Leonardo da Vinci – 500 Years of Genius is a large-scale immersive exhibition created by Grande Experiences in collaboration with the Museo Leonardo da Vinci in Rome. The experience brings Leonardo's art, inventions and ideas to life through digital projection, sound and storytelling, offering a captivating journey for visitors of all ages.

Where is the exhibition located?

The exhibition is located atop the former Federation Centenary Fountain at King Edward Terrace, Parkes ACT 2600, adjacent to Parkes Place Lawns, within Canberra's central cultural precinct.

Is this part of Enlighten Festival?

Leonardo da Vinci – 500 Years of Genius runs alongside the Enlighten Festival as a featured activation but operates as a separate ticketed experience. Entry to the exhibition requires a valid ticket and is not included with general Enlighten Festival attendance.

What are the opening hours?

The exhibition operates daily from 11:00am to 9:00pm during Enlighten Festival (28th Feb - 9th Mar) & then from 10:00am - 8:00pm (10th March onwards). Last entry times may vary depending on session availability.

Do I need to book tickets in advance?

Advance booking is strongly recommended. Tickets are available online via Universe. Limited tickets may be available at the door, subject to capacity.

Are there timed entry sessions?

Yes. The exhibition operates using timed entry sessions to manage capacity and ensure a comfortable experience for all visitors. Your ticket will show your allocated entry time.

How early should I arrive before my session?

We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before your scheduled session time to allow time for ticket scanning and entry into the exhibition.

What happens if I arrive late for my session?

If you arrive after your scheduled session time, staff will do their best to accommodate you; however, entry cannot be guaranteed if sessions are at capacity. Late arrivals may be offered entry into a later session where availability allows.

How long does the experience take?

The core immersive experience runs for on average 40 minutes however some may go through in 20 minutes, some may stay for an hour or more. Visitors are welcome to spend additional time enjoying the café and shop before or after their session.

Is the exhibition suitable for children?

Yes. The exhibition is suitable for children and families. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Is the exhibition accessible?

The exhibition has been designed to be accessible. Accessible pathways, seating and clear signage are provided, and staff are available to assist visitors with accessibility needs.

Are prams and strollers allowed?

Yes. Prams and strollers are welcome within the exhibition, and accessible pathways are provided throughout the site.

Is seating available inside the exhibition?

Yes. Limited seating is provided within the exhibition, including benches and soft seating in designated areas, positioned so as not to interfere with projection zones or walkways.

Can I take food or drinks into the exhibition?

Food and drinks are not permitted inside the exhibition space. This helps protect the immersive environment and ensures a safe and comfortable experience for all visitors.

Is there a café onsite?

Yes. A café operates onsite alongside the exhibition, offering food and beverages for purchase. The café is accessible after your session.

Is alcohol available?

Alcohol is available for purchase within approved licensed areas of the café. Alcohol must remain within designated licensed areas. Outside alcohol cannot be brought onto or consumed within the exhibition site.

Are bikes, scooters or similar items allowed?

For safety reasons, bikes, scooters, skateboards and similar wheeled recreational items are not permitted inside the exhibition. We recommend securing these items offsite before entering.

Is there parking available?

There is no public parking provided onsite. Visitors are encouraged to walk, use public transport, ride-share services, or park in existing public parking facilities within the Canberra CBD.

Can I arrive by Uber or taxi?

Yes. Ride-share and taxi drop-off and pick-up can be arranged using nearby public roads. Please follow local signage and driver instructions.

Is photography allowed?

Photography for personal use is permitted. Flash photography and commercial photography may be restricted.

Is there a shop?

Yes. A retail shop offering exhibition-related merchandise is available onsite.
